Phillips66 IT Student Conference
As a nominee for the Phillips 66 IT Student Conference, I had the opportunity to attend a four-day conference in Phillips66 IT headquarters in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I was joined by 20 other information technology students from all over the nation. Over the course of the four days, I was able to learn about the history and origins of the oil and gas industry in Bartlesville, and the significant role Phillips 66 plays in the town today. I also had the opportunity to network with company executives, high-level managers, and new hires. During my experience at ITSC, I was able to meet new people, share ideas and experiences, and expand my knowledge.
LeaderShape
As a participant in LeaderShape, I had the opportunity to attend a six-day course on how to lead with integrity. I was joined by 42 other business students from the C. T. Bauer School of Business. Over the course of the six days, I was able to learn about my strengths, values, and potential. Moreover, I had the opportunity to learn about other people's experiences and ideas. LeaderShape helped me understand the significance of having an open mind and thinking about other's perspectives. I can definitely say that LeaderShape shaped me become a better person, and a better leader.
TedxHouston
As a volunteer in the TedxHouston event in October 2015, I had the opportunity to attend an amazing daylong event where intellectuals come together to share ideas that can change the world. It was a great experience; I was able to learn about my innovative ideas in technology, art, agriculture, social studies, among many others. Moreover, I had the opportunity to learn about other people's experiences and ideas, and the circumstances leading to them helping change the world. Volunteering at TedxHouston was a significant time in my life as it opened my eyes to new possibilities, and gave me encouragement to implement ideas of my own that have the potential of changing the world.
